Some people get lucky in life, and some people don’t. I was most definitely one of the people that got lucky. As an only child, I inherited my parents property when they retired to an elderly care home. The property is in an affluent Bayside suburb, and is where I plan to live with my young family one day. I got so lucky to be passed down this property, as I would be unable to purchase in this area normally. But with the incredible head start that I have been handed, I am going to build my dream home.
I am a builder by trade, so I am very qualified to build my own home. This is another reason why I’ve gotten so lucky, because I am able to build my own home, I’ll be saving a significant amount of money. The plans are all complete for the house, which means it’s time to go and buy all the necessary building supplies. Cheltenham, the suburb near my home, is great for supplies which is even better, as I’ll save on petrol too.
My home is going to be exquisite. I had to borrow a significant amount of money to be able to build it, but I had a leg up as I didn’t need to purchase the land too. My home will have five bedrooms, a study, two living rooms, three bathrooms and a wide open plan kitchen and dining area. I’m not a landscaper, so I will be contracting someone to help me with the backyard, which will feature a pool, a trampoline in the ground and a gazebo. We’ll work together and I’ll make sure to accompany him when necessary to the hardware store. Bentleigh and surrounding suburbs are good areas to be undergoing construction in, due to the vast number of stores available. I’m glad that they’re so nearby so that I can keep a close eye on the landscaper. I have trouble trusting people with tasks as important as these. If we work well together I may contact him for other projects in the future too. Working on my new home, my absolute pride and joy, will be the ultimate test.
